The Story so far…

Community Shield,BANG!!!!Three straight wins in Premier League,BANG!BANG!The Old United is back,United play attractive brand of football again,Mourinho is genius….Then comes three straight loses,Booooo!!!LVGesque football has never gone,Mourinho have lost his aura,United set for another year of despair.Uffff…Much have been said by the media about United than a high flying city or a struggling Chelsea or Sam Allardyce.The Press is waiting on the doors to tear the club apart.This shows our huge brand of football. They may not be in spotlight if they cover the other struggling teams.But,if Pogba mispasses it can grab them a penny or few.

Without looking into criticism and accolades from the media and press,Here we go into the story so far inside Old Trafford.

1.Tactics speaks :

United fans had accustomed to possession based football in last two years and Jose has changed it suddenly.United now imply ‘Break and Play’ system and averaged less than 45% of possession in their first two games.The players are intended to attack and play aggressively.Stats shows increase in percentage of tackling and this shows the players mentality for ball retention and urge to score.The Wing Play is  far improved thanks to rejuvenated Valencia as his crosses are finally delivered into the box.Zlatan has brought his goal scoring form and leadership into the team.But,the process has not yet achieved a full flow,the team never looks like a full flowing counter attacking team.With proper time in training and consistency, the team can once again threaten the league,for which united is feared in the past.

2.The Midfield Corundum:

When you pay 89million for a midfielder,you must make most out of him.He must control the game and win the game for you.Mourinho is still struggling to get the best out of Pogba. To unleash the beast inside Pogba,he must be complimented with an anchoring midfilder ,who wins the ball and moves the it forward for him.Mourinho started Fellaini alongside with Pogba in his first three games.Though he fared better,he started to fade once again as usual.Herrera is a perfect partner for Pogba.But,in big games a proper No.6 midfielder is needed.Carrick is a tailored fit.Considering his age,either Schneiderlein should step up or Blind should be promoted to Midfield.

3.Inconsistency in defense:

Defensive organization is one of the positive notes from last year.Jose Mourinho has gone for zonal play this time and defensive play is not up to the mark.United have conceded 10 goals in 10 games including three vs Watford and kept only three clean sheets which is a poor stats for a Jose Mourinho team.Fellaini always looked like a third centre-back and Shaw was publicly criticized Mourinho for his  positioning.Eric Baily is the only stand-out performer in the defense.He won the player of the month for August and looks like a blend of Vidic and Ferdinand.His tackles are ghost like and comfortably brings the ball out of defense.

4.The Curious case of Blind and Mata:

              Remember when Juan Mata & Daley Blind were getting sold, Oh and that José Mourinho wouldn’t play Marcus Rashford? Good times.

Mourinho usually likes tall and athletic players.Blind and Mata were written off even before Mourinho took charge.Now,both the players have shut the a**es of the press and entered the team in cinematic fashion.Blind was particularly perfect vs Leicester and He is a scientific wonder as he is two seconds ahead of everyone regarding his positioning.He makes for his built with his extraordinary football brain.Mata is very much needed for Mourinho system of ball retention style of play.He is not a Silva-esque or Ozil-esque type of No.10.He patiently creates the play and finishes it.His goal vs Leicester stands for it.

5.The Rooney Agenda:

The Big Fat Guy!I’m a big fan of Wayne Rooney but wouldn’t sacrifice the team for his fanatics.This guy simply couldn’t press,shoot,lost all his pace and couldn’t  pass the ball to the rhythm of  play.He is a hindrance to the offensive game.Even my grandma could play those Hollywood passes when given space.Mourinho has already benched Rooney and His decision must be crucial to the team as the season progress.

But,Rooney has a great personality and attitude.I wish he improves his form and fight for a place in the team.

The past of Manchester United is replaced by the future.

As the October blooms,tougher tasks await for United.A run of fixtures against the likes of Liverpool,Chelsea,Man city should either prove or expose our squad strength and depth. As said earlier,Media and Press are waiting on the doors with hunger.Let us not give a chance and prove them wrong.
